319 Gibson County Court, October Term 1917 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF J.K.P.HALE I, J.K.P.Hale, being of sound mind and disposing memory, but aware of the uncertainties of life, do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others by me at any time made. 1. I direct that all my just debts, including funeral expenses, be paid as soon as practicable, out of the first money that may come into the hands of my executrix to be hereinafter named. 2. All my personal property of whatever character and where-ever found with the exception of money on hand, in bank and notes, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Ellen Hale, to do with as she may see fit. I also will and devise to my said wife, Ellen Hale, my house and lot of about six acres in the town of Dyer, Twenty -first Civil District of Gibson County,Tennessee, the same being located on what is known as Yorkville Street, and also being the home place where we now live. It is my will that my wife take the property given and devised to her by this clause of my will absolutely and further that she do with it and all of it as she pleases. 111. I now direct my executrix , as soon as practicable after my death, to collect all outstanding notes then due and such as are not due I direct that she collect them on their becoming due or as soon thereafter as possible. Out of the money on hand and that collected on the notes I give and bequeath to Miss Viola Patton, Mrs. Annie Lee Smith, wife of Eph Smith, my niece Mrs. Amanda Netherly, My Nie -ce, Mrs Maude hale, widow of G B Hale, and Mrs Birdie Harris, wife of Sid Harris each five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars, and in case there is not sufficient money on hand I direct that my executrix pay to them and equal share in what money there may be on hand, but it is my desire that the money above given to the friends whose names are mentioned be realized on the notes due my estate by Bob Hale and S.P. Hale. The money so above bestowed on these, my friends, is only a token of he great est- eem and regard I have for them and in this manner I try to show them and express to them my value of their friendship to me during my life because all of them are very near and dear to me. IV. All the balance of my money on hand and realized by the collection of any and all outstanding notes due my estate I now give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Ellen Hale. V. I now hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife, Ellen Hale, my executrix, with full and complete power to execute this my last will, without bond, and she shall not be required to make inventories, reports or settlements of my estate with the clerk of any court.
